Coronavirus Precautions : How to Protect Yourself from Covid-19

Since the outbreak,covid-19 has spread rapidly.Coronavirus,that causes the disease is known as Covid-19 seems to be spreading in the community in certain affected geographical areas.A person infected with coronavirus can spread the virus to 1.5-3.5 people.However there are some steps you can take to protect yourself.

Symptoms

The symptoms of infection for coronavirus are often similar to those of other respiratory virus infections.Symptoms can include fever, cough,shortness of breath or sore throat.Most people will only have mild symptoms, but some can become very sick.

How it spreads :

The virus spreads mainly from person-to-person.
  • Between people who are in close contact with one another within about 6 feet.
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes,talks or direct physical contact.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
  • Some recent studies have suggested that Covid-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms(asymptomatic).

Follow these simple precautions to reduce your chances of contracting coronavirus :-


  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains 60% of alcohol,especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  •  Wear a cloth face cover or face mask when you have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.keep at least 6 feet (2 meters) of distance between you and other people.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow, rather than into your hands.
  • While stepping out, wear full-sleeved clothing to minimize the interaction with any public surface.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets and sinks.If surfaces are dirty, clean them with detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.Then use a household disinfectant.
  • Eat nutritionous foods and strengthen your immunity.
  • Use separate bedding and towels and do not share these with other household members.
  • Do not allow visitors into your home. This includes children and adults. 
  • Wash the sick person's clothing, bedding, and towels with detergent on the hottest temperature possible. If possible wear gloves when handling their laundry.Wash your hands with soap after handling the laundry.
  • Restrict your travel.
  • Monitor your health.Be alert of symptoms.
  • Social distancing can get pretty lonely and boring for kids who are sick and need to stay home.While they're separated from family, classmates, and friends, kids may want to:
  1. Talk on the phone or do a video call with family and friends.
  2. Text or use other messaging apps to talk with family and friends.
  3. Play online games that let them play with other kids from home.

The war against the pandemic begins at home, and it’s a battle we all can win with a bit of effort!
